«Ils lags» is Rhaeto-Romanic for "the lakes". In this respect the lake in the middle of the village played a substantial part in the naming of Laax. In summer the Laax Lake promises a cool dip and a fun atmosphere and there is enough space for all the sun worshippers on the sun bathing area.
